In the 1960s, Cliff Fox established his fishing tackle company, giving birth to Fox International which is now one of the leading tackle manufacturers in Europe. With its ethos of innovative, high quality, performance products, it is no wonder that Fox International has become one of the biggest brands in the business. This comprehensive range includes everything from terminal tackle and quality rods to chairs and luggage. It is a company that is trusted worldwide wide, and you can find products from the Fox International portfolio in over 30 countries, including Japan and Russia. The orange Fox logo has grown to become synonymous with the promise of high value, high quality, innovative and practical products. Whether your discipline is in carp, match and coarse, sea and sport, predator, or modern lure fishing.
Carp spend a lot of time in midwater, especially on those high-pressure days with bright sunshine and no wind. They are predictable creatures, and when conditions are right, zigging with baits fished anywhere from a few inches under the surface to just off the deck can prove to be very rewarding for the angler. The two main methods for Zig fishing are the traditional lead clip and the adjustable zig float method. For those fishing in water twelve foot or deeper, this Zig float kit might be great for you.
There is no need for a longer hook clamp, it is easier to cast out thanks to the fluted design for increased casting stability, giving you a bigger water column to catch a carp in. The Fox Zig float is sold as a kit, you simply thread the boom section onto the mainline, then thread the zig float on and tie it to the ball bearing swivel, before adding your hook length. Fox’s Scott Day suggests a three-foot-long hook length that gives plenty of space to separate your bait away from the float.
The float features resistance cavities that aid hooking properties such as PVA or dissolving foam. This zig float has a small recess or an anti-tangle cavity at the bottom end, leaving room for you to roll up a piece of PVA into a nugget, add some moisture, shove it into the hole, squeeze the PVA flat before taking the hook length and nick it through the PVA. This use of the cavity will help to reduce the chances of your hooklink tangling on the cast and as the float rises through the water.
The float is finished in trans khaki colouration including the short anti-tangle sleeve which offers camouflage when stalking the fish. The Zig float is also supplied with a boom that is shaped to accommodate the edges angled drop off the run ring, to ensure the lead hangs flush to the float, whilst at the other end, you can use the Fox edges heli drop off the bead.
The unique design of the boom means you can choose to eject the lead (without losing boom) or keep the lead depending on how much weed is present. Angled Drop Off Run Ring enables you to swap between using a boom and not using a boom without having to cut the line and re-tie the set-up.
Please note the dissolving foam in the photography provide is NOT INCLUDED with the product.
