Over the last few months there's been a mass of new products launched by tackle manufacturers around the country. We've been lucky enough to see them all, but when it comes to new commercial-style match rods there was one that impressed us more than most.

For 2015 Daiwa is launching three sets of rods covering different price ranges. We were dazzled by all of them - we'll bring you more on the others in coming issues - and have been lucky enough to get our hands on one set of them. Our editor got out on the bank to find out what they have to offer.

Daiwa Yank 'N' Bank

Daiwa's Yank 'N' Bank range of rods delivers the archetypal weaponry for commercial fishing. Split between pellet-waggler and tip rods you're looking at a total of six in the range - three of each type.

These, as you'd expect, are spread over different lengths, with each type of rod getting 10, 11 and 12ft versions delivering different levels of range, power and use.

The Yank 'N' Bank name has been around and across quality kit for years now as a more mid-level offering from the company - and the new rods continue this with style.

If you're after some matching consistency in your commercial setup, then you'll want both types of the new Yank 'N' Banks. Here we've got the matching 10ft Pellet Waggler offering, and the good news is that it has all the good news is that it has all the goodness of the equivalent tip rod.



Again, this is being a 10ft model it's not designed to hit great range, working better on smaller venues - you've got the 11 and 12ft models to aim for the horizon. That's only based on the physical leverage of the length, though; the blank on the rod is still powerful enough to punch out big waggles, loading up neatly to deliver the same tight feeling of accuracy and control.

Because of the casting needed to deliver some big wagglers out to swims the blank on the 10ft Pellet is thicker than that on the tip-rod equivalent, but not by much. The action is also similar, the blank offering a progressive power delivery that won't bump fish on the strike, but will soon bend round to put the brakes on better fish. It's a lovely action, in fact, that gives loads of control and feel.



The same finish and details apply to the two piece rod as with the rest of the Yank 'N' Bank range, the flattened aspect of the main carved cork section of the handle being more applicable here, allowing you to rest the butt on your knee while feeding over your wagglier without the worry of it sliding off.

Again a lovely rod for the money - all of the new Yank 'N' Bank rods will retail at a very reasonable £74.99 - that delivers a lot of quality rod for your cash… meaning if you're in the market for new commercial kit, you need to check out these before you make a final purchase.
