Nash Scope Range - Rods, Bivvy & Backpack

Reviewed by Carpology Magazine… Carpology-Logo-Blog Nash Scope Range

2012 saw the new and totally revolutionary Scope collection from Nash swagger out of their showroom and into tackle shops up and down the country and wasn’t just met with undisputed praise from every magazine in the land but sold-out in record time. It provided a hit – a massive hit – so much so that it’s created its own new part of the marker: urban carping.

Within the original collection, Nash launched two telescopic rod models, a mini landing net and a range of two carry systems. For 2014 they’re launching two beefier rods, a luggage collection and a bivvy that packs up so small you could fit in a sports car. In fact, if you’re one of our millionaire subscribers/readers you’ll be please to hear you can now fit everything (minus a foldaway bedchair but is that coming in 2015, Nash?) in your R8…

Nash-Scope-Rods

Nash Scope Rods What do you get when you cross Nashy’s NR rod performance with something that compresses down into a pencil case and has the power of the original Scope rod’s older, wider, rugby-playing brother? The new 3.5 and 4.5lb test curved rods, that’s what. And don’t you forget it.

Okay, we’re exaggerating slightly on the pack-down size – the 9ft version reduces down to just 44-inches and the 10ft option goes to 50-inches, but we’re not about the extra power. For 2014, Nash has launched these two beefier versions for the angler who wants to angle on bit pits, reservoirs or extreme rivers; who may want to use leads between 4 and 5ozs and may want to place a bait at 170yds (150 for the 3.5lb model) or cast out massive solid PVA bags or full-loaded Method feeders – and all of which is possible with these new models.

Finished with black reel fittings, overfit joints, ultra light SS04 ringing and Japanese shrink wrap handles, 2014’s Scope rods look like they perform: in a class of their own. Now, whether you want to cast spods and marker floats 150yds and more, rig up huge leads, Scope is fishing without limits.

Nash-Scope-Bivvy

Nash Scope Bivvy Don’t say we didn’t tell you – because we did. Back in CARPology’s spring editions we were predicting that Nashy would be bringing out a miniature bivvy to go hand-in-hand with his Scope collection, and sure enough it’s one of the stars of this year’s trade show.

The Scope Bivvy, as it’s simply known, has a pack-down length of just 44-inches – matching the revolutionary Scope nine-footers – and is based on a three duralumin flexed rib frame which provides maximum internal room and the combination of the removable front storm panel and door and optional overwrap guaranteeing comfort in extreme cold to intense heat.

Constructed from Aqua Sense Hydra for unbeatable protection in wet conditions and with trademark Scope attention to detail – from rod supports on both bivvy and overwrap to mesh ventilation panels to free follow external mesh sleeves for fast set-up – the Scope Bivvy isn’t just the choice of the single-minded angler, but the man who also demanded comfort which comes in a very condensed package. There’s also an overwrap available too.

Protection To ensure you’re kept warm and more importantly dry, Nash has used their new extremely waterproof Aqua Sense Hydra material. This is then wrapped over the extra strong three-duralumin rib design.

Bits & Pieces The Scope Bivvy comes complete with Spacer Bars for rigidity, twin elasticated pegging points and four Velcro rod supports. There is an optional heavy-duty groundsheet available.

Nash-Scope-Rucksack

Nash Scope Backpack This mind-blowing brand continues to impress year-in, year-out, and new additions to this collection is the Scope Rucksack (79.99) and the Scope Backpack (£69.99) which features a detachable base for storing food/bait and a clever new back support which (a) adds comfort and (b) stops you getting a massive sweat patch on your back. Nice.
