Chub Tri-Brid Shelter
If you’re looking for a hybrid shelter that serves both as a spacious day shelter for short session angling and a full bivvy system for longer weekend trips, the Chub Tri-Brid Shelter is the perfect option for you. A cross between a bivvy and a brolly, the Chub Tri-Brid gets its name from its triple rib construction. These have two break points, for ease of assembly, and erecting the shelter is as quick and simple as erecting any modern brolly. Simply connect up the poles, attach the tension strap, and you’re good to go! It really is that simple.
The Chub Tri-Brid Shelter comes supplied with high quality tension bars. These interlock with the ribs of the bivvy, providing support in all weather conditions, and this really is one of the most solid bivvies on the market today. The front of the bivvy is completely flat, unlike other pram hood bivvies which feature an angled front. This prevents any water or damp from entering the door of the bivvy and it means you can enter and exit without worrying that you’re letting a sheet of water into your dry haven. There are mozzie mesh vents under solid green panels either side of the front door of the bivvy. These allow air to enter the bivvy, ideal in the hotter months or when you’re angling in sunnier continental conditions, without letting in any of the bankside bugs which plague so many anglers.
The door of the shelter is dual zipped. This allows you to use it rolled down in the letterbox style, as well as up in the traditional manner and you can adjust the door based on your needs. The door has a mozzie mesh panel, too, for further increased air flow, as well as a clear PVC option. The PVC panel is completely waterproof, too, allowing lots of light into your bivvy as well as allowing you to see out. By removing the pegs from the front of the shelter you can convert the bivvy into a complete open-fronted brolly.
The Chub Tri-Brid Shelteris perfect for year round angling. This is thanks in part to the shelter’s impressive rear back draught panel. This lets a huge amount of airflow through the bivvy, which is absolutely essential on those really hot bankside days. The rear vent is protected by a storm baffle, too. This means that you never have to worry about water incursion through the zip area. To prevent winter condensation, you can also purchase an overwrap for the bivvy (available to purchase separately). This allows you to use the bivvy year round with confidence and it is ideal for the angler who never wants to feel restricted by their gear.
Tri-Brid comes in its own bag for easy storage and transportation. It has an impressive pack down size so it won’t take up loads of space in your boot or barrow, either, whilst still giving you a huge amount of storage room on the bank. You can comfortably fit a larger ‘wideboy’ style bedchair in this bivvy, as well as all the rest of your vital angling kit. However, because it doesn’t have a large (and unnecessary) front porch, it allows you to squeeze into even the smallest swims. The bivvy also comes with its own lightweight groundsheet. You can use the bivvy with or without this groundsheet, thanks to its advanced tension strap, but its easy Velcro-in design means that should you arrive on your swim after a heavy storm you still have somewhere dry to rest your luggage.
