Rapala has been one of the angling world's favourite fishing lure manufacture since its establishment in 1936. Rapala has since been one of the leading innovators in fishing tackle lures with an exceptional ability to continuously improve lure fishing forever. All the Rapala lures have a wobble that imitates a wounded baitfish and can be seen in the superior know-how in lure design and traditional craftsmanship values that are combined with cutting edge technology and uncompromising quality control. Today’s technology allows very advanced and precise production methods, yet throughout the production process, the lure parts are repeatedly checked for quality. Rapala lures are still hand-tuned and tank-tested before packaging to assure your lure has the Rapala trademark swimming action that big fish cannot resist, straight out of the box.
Made of a Balsa Wood Construction but it is actually a sinking lure. It is ideal for casting and great if you are new to lure fishing as the countdown lure is simple to use. The bib located at the front of the lure just allows you to cast it out easy with a steady retrieve, getting you plenty of bites. There is lots of custom swimming action built into this lure’s bib that mimics the slow-rolling movement of the injured bait fish.
A technique recommended by the lure specialists at Rapala is to cast out the lure, allow it to sink for the count of three seconds or more, allowing the lure to sink down the water column. When letting the lure sink, you know it has reached the bottom of the lakebed when the line relaxes. If you know where the fish are under the water, you can quickly stop the sink of the lure by starting to retrieve it in through reeling in the line. This lure allows you to fish in a multitude of depths in the water so you can bring the bait to where the fish are waiting.
Counting the sinking is great for playing around with the depths of the water when letting the float sink, hence the Countdown name. This provides a controlled depth technique that keeps you in control. The swimming depth of this lure ranges between 0.9-1.8 m. The depths and performance of the lure are hand-tuned and tank-tested by the Rapala team so you can be reassured of the consistent performance of the lure.
This countdown range is to mimic the medium size baitfish with it measuring 5cm in body length, great for catching big predators. The keeping those catches on the line, the lure features VMC Black Nickel Hooks that are micro-barbed. The lure is available in two designs, choose from the brown trout or bleak patterned fish lures.
Whether the fish are suspending at certain depths, at the weed tops or on bottom structure, the CountDown can get you to them consistently.
