At Angling Direct, we believe every small step towards sustainability can make a big difference in creating a better future for all anglers. By making simple changes to the way we provide fishing tackle, we can contribute to a healthier planet not just for ourselves, but for the fish and wildlife too. That’s why we are extremely proud to be partners with the Anglers National Line Recycling scheme (ANLRS).
We’re proud of what we do together and our work with ANLRS is just one of many initiatives or projects we support. Angling Direct is committed to helping drive industry sustainability. We engage with suppliers to drive environmental responsibilities and collaborate to make a positive impact not only for this generation but for future generations to come.
A staggering amount of fishing line, braided fishing line and spools have been collected from the 49 bins across all our stores. So far after introduction in Spring 2022, 5,375,980 meters have been collected from Angling Direct stores, accounting for around 18% of the total fishing line collected by the ANLRS since its inception!
For all you stat lovers out there! This equates to over 3,106.86 miles... which is the same distance as a flight from Dublin to New York. With a total of 1,388,580m collected representing a 15.7% increase over the last 12 months (Jan 23 - Jan 24) from the perious years total, our staff in stores are actively encouraging anglers to recycle their fishing lines. Furthermore with more recycling bins being introduced at every new Angling Direct store, we hope to exponentially increase this figure in the coming years.
