The Matrix HX Pro Reel has been designed to cater for Matrix’s need to enter the top end reel market. Designed specifically for match fishing. Every aspect of this reel has been designed to the Matrix consultant teams exact specification.
The reel body of this reel is made of magnesium compared to the carbon reinforced plastic used by many other reels on the market. The main advantage this offers is that it makes the reel incredibly lightweight, with the whole reel with all components only weighing a featherweight 291g for the 3000 size and 298g for the 4000 size, but also stronger and more durable.
This matrix reel has been made to last with a CNCed aluminium drive gear being used, which is used on incredibly durable top end saltwater fishing reels, as well as a carbon reinforced rotor. A brass pinion has been used in comparison to zinc from other reels, this offers that smooth feel to the reel that will last year on year compared to reels using the zinc based pinions. To further make these match reels as smooth as possible these reels have 10+1 ball bearings with a gear ratio of 5.1:1.
The SDX multi disc drag system ensures a steady delivery of tension when playing fish on the drag. This ensures that there is never too much or too little pressure applied on the hook.
To ensure that these reels do not lose performance when covered in groundbait, Matrix have used three internal seals of the reel on the reel body, to ensure nothing can get into the gearing of the reel in use and clog or degrade the reel over time.
One area that Matrix have focused on for the match angler is the easy reach spool, as they found that Match fisherman cast differently to other areas of fishing, as they prefer to trap the line with their finger on the top of the spool. By focusing on the distance between the reel stem and the top of the spool, Matrix believe they have found the sweet spot which should allow all anglers to cast easily with their finger on the top of the spool. Other advantages of this easy reach spool are that it allows you to easily mend your line when trotting a stickfloat when river fishing, and when distance casting when your arm is fully extended it makes it easier to trap the line and get the power required to hit the spot!
Spool size and depth on this fishing reel have been considered. With the 3000 reel, you are able to get 150m of 0.22mm (5-6lb) monofilament line, with a retrieval rate of 79cm per handle turn and the 400 reel, you are able to get 150m of 0.24mm (6-8lb) fishing line, with a retrieval rate of 86cm per handle turn. A Sleek One-Piece Bail Arm has also been used offering a streamlined design for enhanced performance and aesthetics.
All these features combine to make the perfect reel for the match angler. Perfect for use on commercials with method feeders or pellet wagglers for carp, to feeder fishing on rivers for bream and barbel, elevate your match fishing experience in your next match by adding this item to your gear.
