If you’ve ever spent a night on the bank then you’ll understand how important a top quality sleeping bag is. Designed to keep you warm when it’s cold, a sleeping bag really can make the difference between an enjoyable night’s sleep on the bank and a miserable night tossing and turning. In fact, without a top end sleeping bag there really is no point wasting the night on the bank and you might as well pack up, get a good night’s kip at home, and return at first light the next morning. After all, if you’re struggling to keep your eyes open on the bank then you’ll likely miss vital indications and your session will be doomed to fail from the off. A good night’s sleep really can make the world of difference on the bank and, with an Advanta sleeping bag and pillow in your bivvy, you’ll be set up to succeed. The Advanta sleeping bag and pillow range features a wealth of sleeping bags and pillows, each specifically designed with life on the bank in mind. This means that they have been built to withstand the very worst of the UK’s bankside conditions, ensuring that you’re kept warm throughout the night even in the coldest weather.
If you’re in the market for an all season fishing sleeping bag then you cannot go wrong with one of Advanta’s five season bags. Five season bags are designed to keep you warm in the coldest conditions and are ideal for the angler who likes to be on the bank in freezing winter conditions. These sleeping bags tend to be densely insulated and kitted out with features that set them head and shoulders above the rest, keeping you warm all night long. There are a number of ways the bags can be insulated. Firstly, the bags can feature a dense holofibre filling. This is sometimes silicone treated and the density of this fibre will affect the weight of the bag and its heat retaining properties. Secondly, the bag can be fitted with a second, internal bag. This not only allows you to use the bags independently for a cooler summer setup but it also layers up the holofibre to add extra insulation. Finally, the bag can be fleece lined. A partial fleece lining around the top of the bag helps to prevent cold air incursion into the body of the bag whilst still allowing for complete freedom of movement. A full fleece lining helps to trap warm air close to the body throughout the night, which is ideal if you’re sleeping on the bank in the coldest months.
Four season sleeping bags are ideal for spring to autumn angling. They have not been designed to keep you warm year-round but are ideal for the most popular angling seasons. If mid-winter angling doesn’t appeal to you but you do enjoy getting out on the water in early spring right through to late autumn then a four season bag would be perfect for you. Insulated in much the same way as a five season bag (although somewhat less densely), a four season bag will ensure that you can enjoy a good night’s sleep in cooler conditions.
You’ll also find that the fishing sleeping bags in the range have been fitted baffles. This are insulated flaps of material that cover the zips of the bag, reducing the risk of cold air incursion as well as trapping body heat in the bags. These baffles will most likely have been designed to be anti-snag. This ensures that you’re still able to easily access and escape your fishing sleeping bag – which is vital should your bite alarm alert you in the night. As a final feature, the sleeping bags in the range have also been fitted with bedchair fixing straps and elasticated head and feet sections. These allow you to attach your sleeping bag to your bedchair, ensuring that you don’t have to worry about any twists or getting tangled in the night. They also allow you to permanently store your bag on your bedchair, reducing the amount of gear that you have to transport to and from the bank on any given day and ensuring that you never arrive on the bank without your vital sleeping accessories.
As well as four and five season sleeping bags, you’ll also find four and five season quilts in the Advanta range. These have been designed to allow you to enjoy full freedom of movement whilst sleeping on the bank and are ideal for the angler who finds sleeping bags restrictive. They are also perfect for the angler who anticipates being up and down a lot in the night, as they are easy to enter and exit in a hurry. Finally, quilts are also perfect if you’re fishing in particularly cold conditions when used in conjunction with a sleeping bag, as they allow you to achieve an additional layer of insulation against the elements.
You’ll also find a range of fishing pillows in the Advanta sleeping bag and pillows range. Pillows provide you with top quality head and neck support throughout the night, mimicking your bed at home to ensure that you can sleep comfortably and awake without the usual bankside aches and pains. The pillows in this range have been designed to be bedchair friendly and, as such, they feature a fixing strap. This allows you to buckle your sleeping bag around the bedchair, eliminating the risk of your pillow falling off the bedchair in the night. Similarly, it is also useful for your fishing pillow to be dual sided, as this allows you to maximise heat retention in the winter and to increase comfort in the summer. This is why you’ll find that the pillows in the range have been created with one fleece side (for additional insulation) and one soft-touch side (usually manufactured from either polyester or nylon for your summer comfort).
All of the sleeping bags, quilts, and pillows in the range have been finished in carpy olive green, so they will perfectly complement your range of Advanta carp fishing tackle. Advanta was established in 2011 and its product range has grown year on year to accommodate all anglers across the disciplines. Designed by the Angling Direct team, all the tackle in the range has been produced with British angling in mind by anglers with decades of experience on the bank. What’s more, the entire range is exclusively available at Angling Direct.
