Kamasan Hooks

Kamasan as a brand name has been in existence for over 30 years, though for several years before that they were known as Kamatsu. The company was innovative from the get go, and Kamasan was the very first brand in the industry to introduce chemically sharpened hooks. This represented a huge technological step forward in hook manufacture and the ground-breaking process has since been followed by every other hook maker. Almost all now use this innovation as standard in the present day manufacture of hooks.

There is probably not an angler in the UK, whether they are a game, coarse, or sea fisherman, who has not used a Kamasan hook and does not know their range of products. Indeed, the company has been supplying hooks for more than two generations of anglers. But what many anglers probably don’t know is that the mastermind behind the brand from is none other than Peter Drennan.

Drennan International Tackle is a name synonymous with reliable fishing tackle and Peter has always carried the ethos of quality and affordability on within his Kamasan range.

Every range of Kamasan hook comes in packaging which clearly and concisely denotes its style, construction and size. This has been coupled with a simple to follow numbering system, which greatly assists the angler, no matter their level of ability, to easily select the correct hook for them.

Whilst hooks are the main stay of Kamasan, many anglers also select its renowned Blackcap range of maggot feeders as a key part of their personal portfolio, due to the strength and reliability of the product. The selection of sizes and weights in this range ensures there is always the product the angler needs for the job. Within the Kamasan product portfolio you will also find another old favourite among many anglers: Bayer Perlon. This float fishing line has been around even longer than Kamasan, although Kamasan is now responsible for its manufacture, and it remains the number one choice for many anglers.

In recent years Kamasan has greatly increased its Hooks to Nylon range to keep abreast with the latest demands from the UK anglers. As the commercial carp waters became the most popular fishing venues in the UK, there was an urgent need for a range that would adequately deal with the size of fish being caught. Commercial waters continue to grow in popularity, and as their popularity grows so do the target fish. Consequently, Kamasan has released a large selection of new Hooks to Nylon to deal competently with these monster fish. There are even a couple of styles within this new range that come complete with bait bands already tied on a hair rig and, as with all Kamasan tied hooks, broken hook lengths will be reduced to a memory, as they are all more than adequately prepared for your chosen target.

Kamasan prides itself on being able to provide the very best hook for all categories of angler. They know that the hook is perhaps the more important piece of tackle in an angler’s arsenal, as it is the only bit of kit that comes in direct contact with the fish in the water. Kamasan respects this, and aims to produce hooks worthy of any fish, giving anglers across the spectrum the ability to aim for which ever target they please in the knowledge that a Kamasan hook won’t let them down.
