Trakker Sanctuary Retention Sling Review

Working In an office dedicated to fishing and spending a great deal of my time editing and cutting out photo’s of stunning Carp led me to the purchase of my retention slings. Seeing these stunning photo’s on a daily basis gave me the desire to capture my own special moments on camera. This meant having the ability to retain fish safely for short periods of time.

Several companies sell retention slings costing between £25 and £50 but tales of jumping, thrashing carp escaping narrowed my choice somewhat.

It was evident that I’d want one that zips fully closed to prevent this problem and Trakkers double-zip system fitted the bill perfectly. Four floats keep the sling on the surface at all times and the 5.8m removable cord has a brass fitting to secure it to a bankstick if required.

The sling houses two sets of handles, one with a steel loop for weighing your catch and the other for safe, easy transport to and from your mat. Although they dry extremely quickly, they come supplied in a fully waterproof, Aquatex case.

If you fish quick, short sessions like myself, it means you can store them without soaking everything they touch – genius!

I have found the retention sling to do exactly what I need it to, it is strong and robust, but equally light and efficient.
