Wednesday Review - New From Thinking Anglers

Reviewed by Carpology Magazine… Carpology-Logo-Blog

Thinking Anglers were already one of the most respected brands out there. Now they’ve got upgraded products that are set to change everything…

IT’S RARE IN THIS day and age that a brand has a completely unblemished public image, but that’s exactly what Thinking Anglers has, built on respect, and of course, genuinely innovative products that are loved by the novice and hardcore big carp hunter alike. You could say that their only downfall was in terms of scale, but perhaps that’s what made Ben Hamilton’s small Hampshire enterprise sooooo cool; if you rang the office, the chances were good that you’d speak to Ben, in his own right one of the finest big carp men the UK has produced. Then things changed…

Ben is still running TA, still the heartbeat of the company, still TA through and through, but he has a new investor, and with that comes the power to realise the dreams that he founded the company on. So, what can we expect from TA in 2018? There’s already been a subtle rebrand and the luggage that the coolest guys on Instagram are repping is back, and somehow they’ve made it even better. And what’s more, with rumours of a terminal-tackle launch this summer, they’re only just getting started!

Rucksack

There’s not a lot cooler than the TA Ruck. It’s the rucksack to own if you’re a modern-day influencer. The likes of Gaz Fareham, Oz Holness and Marcus Howarth have come to rely on this perfectly appointed little piece of luggage for all their tackle-toting needs. The design remains groundbreaking: you’ve got the lifting handles for getting it in and out of the boot, bankstick holders, utility straps and perfectly configured internal and external pockets, designed by a genuine carp angler! However, the relaunched version is made from material that’s a staggering double the thickness of the original (which we thought was good!). The padding has been increased too, the zips are more robust and the toggles are now bulletproof!

Compact Carryall

Thanks largely to the extreme popularity of the rucksack, TA had been flooded with requests for a similarly compact carryall ever since they launched the luggage! So, we’re rather chuffed to be able to give you a glimpse of the new Company Carryall. It’s a rather beautiful piece of bivvy furniture, finished in the finest TA drab olive! It’s been sculpted quite deliberately to sit securely on the barrow, and stow away in the smallest of spaces inside the carpiest of tiny overnight brollies. The handily configured pockets will happily take all of your essentials, and the Tardis-like main compartment is more than capable of holding enough kit for a weekend session, or longer if you pack well. The materials are the new 600-denier fabric, with uprated zips, toggles and padding! Pure quality.

Slim Quiver

Quite in keeping with Think Anglers’ mission to strip out everything that’s not going to help you fish effectively, this is probably the smallest, most functional quiver that we’ve ever seen! It’s also extremely clever. Simply pop your landing net and storm poles into the central pocket and you’ve got a nice spine around which to fix your rods. The guys have extended the base pocket on this relaunched version so that you can strap your brolly to it, and a 3/4 zipped pocket takes all your banksticks. Once again, that all-important fabric is now the brutish 600D stuff, and the same upgrades have been lavished on this as the other items!

Key Features - Stores 3 rods - Pocket for banksticks - Landing net in centre - Can attach brolly - Detachable large strap - Ultra slim 4.5" wide

Reel Pouch

Something of a signature product for TA, the super-popular reel pouches have had their makeover too! The material is now super-rugged, weather-resistant 210D fabric that will genuinely look after those precious winches of yours. They’re luxuriously padded and when teamed-up with the Elastic Tip Tops, make for a stripped-back, but totally safe and functional rod-protection ensemble.

Elastic Tip Top

An idea so good that it’s been copied over and over again since TA first innovated it. It’s still the best way to keep folded-down rods safe and together if you don’t want to go the whole hog with a much bigger, heavier holdall. They’re universal fit, and combine with the Reel Pouches and Quiver to build a rod-transport system that’s frankly unrivalled for versatility and innovation. A true industry-first product that is genuinely loved by the angler looking to strip away unnecessary clutter from his/her kit
