Petzl has long been synonymous with top-quality head torches, with the compact designs but often unique features appealing to carp anglers in particular.
The 100-lumen Tikka has been around for as long as I can remember and was the torch of choice for me, and just about every carp angler I know, for a very long time.

Next up is the Tikkina, which at 80 lumens is still ample for most anglers but costs not much over twenty pound if you shop around. How Petzl can produce such a quality torch at this price is beyond me, but it is indeed the case. Reliability and build quality are evident throughout and I’d definitely recommend this one for an angler on any kind of budget.

The Tikka+ is the latest development on the Tikka and is a little different in design. With an impressive 160 lumens and different beam settings it’s an impressive all-rounder. It’s also the first one in the four that we’ve been sent that features a red beam, perfect for when flies abound and you don’t want to spook carp when landing them.

Finally, at the top of the tree in this compact torch style if the Tactikka+. With it’s 160 lumens, 60-yard range and triple beam setting and red-bulb option it’s an absolute winner. Expect to pay around £40 for one of these but it’ll be with every penny and stand the test of time.
