Nash H-Gun Elevator Cradle Deluxe Review
We previously featured the H-Gun Elevator and we were very impressed with it’s combination of protection, ease of use and value. This newer deluxe version is essentially the same model but offers larger dimensions to cope with Carp in excess of 40lb. Don’t worry if you target smaller Carp than that because an unhooking mat can only ever be too small, it can never be too big.
Easy to erect, the Elevator folds up and down in seconds and offers total protection to the Carp while being unhooked and made ready for those all-important trophy shots. The frame locks out to avoid any unwanted movement or closure while in use, but also stays folded when being transported to and from your swim thanks to twin Velcro straps.
Mesh drainage panels help prevent the build up of excess water (this also helps to dry the cradle out after use) and the carp-friendly material keeps your quarry completely protected throughout.
As cradle-style mats go we really like this one, the only slight drawback being that the legs are not adjustable so it won’t sit level on uneven ground. That said, even a sloping cradle mat will not see carp sliding out because it will remain in the well padded ‘sling’ regardless. If the slope is so severe that this is a risk, then you’ve set it up in the wrong place!
So what about the price? Nearly 70 quid for an unhooking mat might at first seem a bit steep, but what price can you put on good Carp care. The H-Gun will also last a very long time, so could feasibly be the only mat you’d ever need. If we ran a syndicate we’d insist on mats like this because it’s very difficult to make a mistake when using one, and that’s a pretty indictment for any product.
