Although there seems to be a growing trend for hardened anglers to sit the winter out under a brolly, sometimes there’s nothing better than a proper bivvy on the bank, sheltering you from the harsh elements and giving you plenty of room while doing so.
The JRC Stealth X-Lite is a pram-hood-design bivvy with a peak at the front to keep the driving rain away from the front door. It assembles very quickly, with two main ribs that break in three places and an extra half rib that forms the peak. It is a light, compact bivvy and great for adding that bit of comfort on the bank without carrying a large, unnecessary bivvy with you. Supplied in the bag is a set of pegs and a groundsheet.
The material used to make the bivvy, 10,000HH Hydratex, is extremely waterproof but also very hard-wearing.
There are several door options to suit mozzie-mesh or solid panels, and I particularly like that the whole front can be zipped out to create an open shelter, which, coupled with the large rear vents, will make an excellent summer shelter with great airflow in the most humid conditions.
This bridges the gap between a brolly and a huge, full-sized bivvy with overwrap when you simply don’t need the excessive room, weight and features that often come with these larger models. Most of all, it weighs just 7.9kg so is easy to transport.
