Fox Supa Brolly

Through the years there is no doubt that fishing brollies and shelters have some on leaps and bounds, as no longer does the session angler have to make due with a standard 50icnh brolly and lightweight overwrap.

The advances in technology and the changing attitudes of modern anglers has certainly opened the door to a whole new array of brollies and shelters, anglers are now spending longer on the banks and need a shelter which is reliable, lightweight and easy to erect.

If you are an angler who fishes overnight and are looking for a shelter which does all of the above, then we may have just the thing for you, the item we are talking about is the Fox Supa Brolly!

Fox-Supa-Brolly-3We first clocked onto this item at the Fox tradeshow in early 2013, when we were shown the very first Supa Brolly. As soon as the product was erected there was a buzz of activity amongst the store managers and a frenzy of biro’s scribbling away on note pads, we’d seen many new products, but we knew this was a good’un!

The item has received some rave reviews online and it’s seems we aren’t the only one’s who were impressed with this shelter, as the experts at Total Carp magazine were also taken back by this innovative brolly, as they write below…

The single biggest disadvantage with a brolly is that the inner support frame compromises the internal space.

Fox-Supa-Brolly-5Sitting on your bedchair and watching the water generally means that you either have to suffer backache or sit as far forward as possible. That’s fine in the summer, but not great in the rain.

The standout feature of the Supa Brolly is its unique STS mechanism. This stands for Self-Tensioning System and essentially does away with the bulk of this internal structure. Although a little more involved, the easiest way to describe the mechanism is a miniature version of what you’d normally expect to see inside a brolly. If this were the only difference between the Supa and other brollies then it would be reason enough to consider buying one. However, there’s more…

Fox-Supa-Brolly-2As well as the STS offering maximum headroom, the internal dimensions are extremely generous. This comes from its size as well as the design of the rear ribs, which allow for more room at the back of the brolly.

The Fox PR people describe the Supa Brolly as: “A brolly that thinks it’s a bivvy.” Well, you can see where they are coming from because once you’re inside the available space is very similar to many bivvies but, of course, with the convenience of using a fast-erect brolly – still the quickest shelter type in terms of set-up.

Fox-Supa-Brolly-4A fibreglass support rib can be threaded across the front, which gives more shape and coverage still, and the design of it gives a slight apex to aid water run-off via the piped gutter on the front.

Finally, the Supa Brolly is made from Fox’s impressive Ven-Tec material, so it will not let you down. It packs away to a very small package and there is no bulky bell cap on the exterior. Even the locking collar has a loop on so you can use it to hang a bivvy light or suchlike.

TC comment: Great piece of kit – takes brolly design to another dimension
