For this episode we took the camera's down to a small, secluded lake in deepest Norfolk.
We arrived at the venue not really knowing what to expect, all we had been told was the lake was a picturesque venue around an two acres in size and that we should pack the float rod and tackle up for Tench!
With this in mind we opted to fish a traditional method known as the 'lift method' we also tackled up with a good old fashioned centrepin reel to really get in tune with the stunning looking 'mr crabtree-esque' surroundings.
When we arrived at the lake we certainly weren't disappointed, the lake was a picture, overhanging willows, thick beds of lily's and plenty of bank side vegetation, it certainly was a case of... 'If Carlsberg Made Fishing Lakes'.
The lake was almost split in two, with a jungle area at one end, funnelling into a larger open 'bowl' area at the other. We opted to fish in the middle of the two area's in the narrow part of the lake where these two area's joined, thinking that this would allow us to ambush any passing fish.
To make sure we would attract and hold fish that were passing through, we balled in a nice carpet of ground bait, which was littered with free offerings. We then tackled up and started the session, not really knowing what to expect!
Watching a float is almost a forgotten pastime in the modern world of angling, but I would recommend it to anyone, it really reminded me of my childhood and with the stunning surroundings it really was a case of... catching would just be a bonus!
Anyway I won't ramble on anymore as you can see exactly how our session unfolded by watching the two part video below. To watch in HD simply click the little cog in the YouTube player and select 720p or 1080p.
