Trot On & Alliance Charter Fishing Report – September

Here’s a brief report on the last month’s fishing on Trot On and Alliance… it was shocking! Joking aside, it hasn't been anywhere near where it should be. Usually at this time of the year we’d be expecting day after day of fish, fish, fish, but they haven’t been coming. In all fairness, some days have been better than others and our more experienced anglers have fished well with both bait and shads, but it isn’t ‘dip and fill’ in the same way that it was this time last year. Our anglers are really having to work for their catches, I’m afraid. That being said, we have caught ling up to 20lb and cod into double figures, too, so it hasn’t been all bad news.

Whitby’s autumn festival has just started and runs until the 19th of September. With £1,000 up for grabs for first place it’s one that we don’t like to miss out on. There are still a few places available on both boats for good tides and the hire gear is holding up better than expected! The blanks on the Sonik rods are excellent – I’ve posted videos on the Alliance and Trot On Charter Facebook page of all the gear in action if you want to check it out for yourself.



Alliance is taking part in the 2016 Whitby Uptiding Festival – last year the prize pot was worth over £4,000 in total and first place prize what £1,000, not to mention plenty of other prizes that were up for grabs. We’re hoping for similar figures this year, too. Skipper Shaun Elwick’s pedigree at this type of fishing is second to none. He has had many years of running his own commercial long line boat so there isn’t a single nook or cranny that he doesn't know like the back of his hand along Whitby’s legendary hard ground. While he was the skipper of "The Saxon Lady" he showed his class with fish up to 23lb taken not 300 yards from the coastline. If you enjoy shore fishing, this is the perfect type of fishing for you, so get in contact to book your places before they’re all gone! When it’s available, you can also be fishing with top quality locally sourced fresh baits, which makes all the difference to your catch rate!
