Thursday Focus- Avid Carp Lok Down Banksticks & Storm Poles

Nothing can ruin a carping session than an unstable bankstick or rod pod set up. It can be infuriating, after spending considerable time setting them up so that they’re perfectly aligned the last thing you want is for your first bite to undo all your work.

Avid Carp believe they have contested both problems with the creation and introduction of its Lok Down Bankware range with both banksticks and storm poles. The Lok Down range is compatible with Lok Down Buzz Bars, Stage Stand and Stabilisers. An all conformist feature.

The Avid Carp Lok Down Banksticks are conventional in shape, a 16mm super-strong shaft constructed from aluminium is lightweight but extremely durable. The Avid Carp Lok Down Banksticks differ from others on the market for its functionality thanks to the cam lock.

Instead of applying pressure to just a single point on the insert pole, the Avid Carp cam lock wraps around the circumference of the insert pole. Lok Down Banksticks are available here at Angling Direct in a variety of sizes; 6 inch, 9 inch, 12 inch, 16 inch and 24 inch, meaning that there is a bankstick for every situation and substrate.

The Avid Carp Storm Poles are equally impressive, preventing movement experienced during a turn in the weather and a sudden collapse in the pole thanks again to the Lok Down feature. This design provides significantly more hold and results in the storm poles being unmoveable, certainly by hand.

Made from a 19mm super-strong shaft which is constructed from high-grade aluminium, again, like the Banksticks, the Storm pole is lightweight but extremely durable. The Avid Carp Storm Poles are sold in two sizes, 36 inch and 48 inch variants and will perform a plethora of tasks for you on the bank, aside from the more obvious use of keeping your bivvy anchored to the ground!

Lok Down Storm poles also make great bank sticks if you want to place a rod off your main pod, or you can use your storm poles to ensure your line does not cut across snags when a fish kites left or cruises right around an island or a nasty big weed bed.
