As anglers, we live for our sport but we also care for the environmental impact that fishing waste can cause. Many of us anglers, including the team over at Sufix, are aware that our oceans are in trouble along with many of our freshwater venues too and so, are in need of a big change.
The Rapala’s Research & Sustainability Manager; Taneli Väisänen states:
“Fishing is not only about catching fish. It is also about exploring, preserving and respecting the outdoors.”
If you are an angler keen to make a difference to your environmental impact, then we, here at Angling Direct may have the product for you. You may already be part of the Angling Trust’s Anglers Against Pollution Campaign or be saving up your old fishing line to pop in the recycling bin at one of the AD Stores, but after that, what more can you do to help minimise your contribution to the plastic problem?
Sufix is drawing a new line, literally. Like many others in the Angling Industry, Sufix is encouraging anglers to become part of the solution rather than adding to the problem. Taking a new direction, Sufix is building on what others have left behind at the banksides and shorelines by introducing the world’s first 100% recycled fishing line.

The manufacturing of many of the fishing lines that we anglers use is made from new plastics, which can be stripped down and recycled into new items but still, the production of new lines are occurring. Sufix realised this way of manufacturing lines needed to change. Instead of creating new lines time and time again to just pop in a recycling bin, why don’t we use a line that has been made from recycled products?
The ground-breaking Sufix® Recycline® Monofilament is made from 100% Econyl®, which is regenerated nylon made of recycled fishing waste, such as fishing nets and old fishing line, pulled straight out of the world’s oceans and turned into a dependable monofilament fishing line, as a part of a fully recyclable product system.
Facts about Recycline:
25% of the regenerated nylon used comes from reclaimed commercial fishing nets and fish farming waste.
75% is made from a combination of industrial waste nylon & post-consumer nylon.
The spool and paperback package of the Recycline is made from recycled materials.
All of this product and packaging can be recycled again and again.
Together, the product, packaging and all are made from 100% recycled materials, which have been partly reclaimed from the ocean.
A fishing line that not only can be popped in the recycling bin after it has been tired out but returns to you time and time again in a step towards sustainable existence, protecting our fisheries and helping improve our natural resources.
