Trakker’s providing the light in the dark this autumn/winter, and we’re pretty stoked about it!
IN HINDSIGHT, we can’t believe how long we’ve been without a Trakker head torch range. It’s such a good fit for the brand that does all it can to keep us warm, dry and happy on the bank that we probably assumed it already had torches in its impressive line-up. Their brand-new Nitelife range looks set to win a significant number of fans, thanks to the features that Trakker has packed onto each unit. The product team has launched two torches initially, the rechargeable L5 and the (only slightly) more conventional L4.
Trakker Nitelife L5 Rechargeable
Let’s start by taking a close look at the L5, which is USB rechargeable, meaning that you can charge it off your power pack on the bank, or from the 12v socket in your car. This means that, finally, the days of digging around deep in the recesses of your rucksack for the head torch, only to find that it’s dead as a dodo are over. Even if you left it switched on and drained the battery, the L5 can simply be recharged in the bivvy.
It’s a slim-line torch that’s discreet and finished in a Trakker-green colour scheme. You’ve got a tasty 500 lumens at your disposal, should you need them, as well as red rear light for boat work and even better, the L5 works whichever way you put it on, thanks to a multi-positional front light – genius.

Trakker Nitelife L4 Battery
The L4 runs off 3 AA batteries and gives away a mere 30 lumens of strength to its more expensive brother (both use the impressive XP-G2 Cree White LED). Many of the features are, in fact, the same across the Nitelife range, including the three brightness settings, plus a handy boost mode, that rear red light, wide beam light and multi-positional front light. The battery pack on the L4 is set at the back of the headband, which makes for a very slim set-up, which we like. The L4 is a miniscule 5g heavier than the L5 too, but worth considering if every gram matters to you.
