Angling and Rivers: 4 Eco-Conscious Campaigns to Support

As anglers, we have a deep connection to the rivers and waterways that provide us with joy, relaxation, and a sense of adventure. At Angling Direct, we recognise that anglers are not just passionate about catching fish but also about protecting the precious environments that make angling possible.

To address the environmental challenges our rivers face, we present five environmental petitions or campaigns that every eco-conscious angler should consider supporting. By signing these petitions, and giving donations or volunteers to these causes, we can work together towards a sustainable future for our rivers and angling experiences.

The harsh truth is that the rivers us anglers love so much are in a very bad state.

The Environment Agency found in its 2020 report:

"Only 14% of our rivers meet Good Ecological Status under the Water Framework Directive: that figure has not changed since 2009."

"In the last five years, there has been a steady rise in the number of water pollution incidents, from fewer than 6,500 in 2015 to almost 7, 600 in 2019."

By supporting the appeal, you can play a role in safeguarding the landscapes that provide us with memorable angling experiences while mitigating the impacts of climate change.

As anglers, we have the power to be advocates for our rivers and the environment. By signing and supporting these environmental petitions, we can drive meaningful change and ensure a sustainable future for both our rivers and angling pursuits.

Let us join forces and be advocates for change, ensuring that future generations of anglers can experience the beauty and abundance of healthy rivers. Together, we can make a significant difference in safeguarding our rivers for the benefit of nature and our angling community.
