Whilst out looking for new areas to fish close to his French home our very own French correspondent Ade kiddell got a surprise in the shape of a huge river carp!
Ade explained... "I am always out and about looking at new areas for both myself and guests at our house, there are literally miles and miles of un-fished river and plenty of fish to be caught. Along with my French mate Steve Devo we targeted an area just below a weir which we thought might hold a barbel or 2, the session started well when we both had a barbel first chuck, Steve had another and then some large bream.
I was being entertained by a pair of peregrines that were terrorising the local bird population when the buzzer alertrted me to a bite which then took off downstream like a train, if it was a barbel it was a monster, it was several minutes later when we caught a flashing glimpse of what looked like a mid double carp, another 10 minutes or so Steve finally netted a chunk of a common, not your normal torpedo shaped common but a fat, deep and wide beast of a fish.
The scales settled at 34lb 10oz and I was over the moon with such a cracking fish, especially on my Barbel tackle!"
