I decided to make the effort to do Sunday overnighter after seeing some perfect conditions forecast for catching a carp or two. Knowing the lakes would be quiet on a Sunday afternoon with mild temperatures, rain and a strong southerly I got down around lunchtime. After walking the banks for about five or six hours it was clear the fish where held up in numbers in a shallow out of bounds area so I fished as close as could hoping to intercept them if they ventured out under the cover of Darkness.
I started seeing fish show an hour or so into darkness just an underarm flick from the bank so I made the decision to clip on some lighter leads and cast them the short distance and baited lightly trying to minimize the disturbance with only a handful of bait over the top of the rigs. I was woken by the 18.04 common just after midnight followed a few hours later by the 34.12 as the first signs of dawn was starting to break. I was rewarded with the 24.00lb mirror as I was getting my stuff together to go to work. All the fish were caught on Sticky Baits Vortex fished on Hinge stiff rigs constructed with Fox Edges range of terminal tackle.
