Back home now after doing 32hrs on the day ticket water Loggies in between Ashford and Canterbury with Matthew Layzell, in conditions that were far from ideal, with frost at night and a bitter wind.
We opted for single bright pop-ups with Tigernut Goo fished at range where we had seen a few fish show Sunday morning, and within the first hour we had a fish each on the bank, Matt`s weighing 26lb.
The fish seemed to be slightly in front of me resulting in me catching five more to Matt's one... After a glass of wine and kebab, which was delivered to the gate, it was time for bed.
The night passed without incident until I was woken by Matt at 6.30am catching a lovely fully scaled mirror.
The day started brightly, but the wind got up and in came the clouds. It was a few hours before one of my rods were away again, with a nice common gracing the net.
We were just contemplating packing up around 3pm when I was in again, as I was playing the fish Matt had a take, with two fish weighed and photographed the middle rod was away as I was slipping the first fish back. As the fish neared the net Matt's other rod screamed off, so off he ran off leaving me to land my own fish. Sadly Matt fish shed the hook, but what a mad 15 minutes, four takes and 3 fish on the bank.
We ended up with 11 fish between us including four 20s, none of the big girls came out, but we couldn't complain and would highly recommend this top day ticket water.
