Single Rod Pays Dividends… Mark Riley

AD Norwich regular and Pursuit Baits backed Mark Riley, has been enjoying some fantastic success on his local syndicate water taking a string of cracking fish to over 30lb.

Mark who fished over the bank holiday weekend with his girlfriend Flavia, was primarily targeting Catfish as his original thoughts were that the Carp would be spawning, but with no sign of it, he opted to target them on one rod and what a decision it turned out to be!

A single Pursuit Baits MnM Pop Up, soaked in MnM liquid and fished to a reed lined margin done this business as Mark landed some cracking Carp, including one of the lakes big girls, the Fully Scaled at a weight of 33lb 12oz, a fish which Mark was quite familiar with, having landed it in the early part of the year.

Mark wrote…

“Sometimes a repeat capture is very welcome, especially when they come as pretty as this and a few pounds heavier! I’m certainly glad I popped the single Carp rod out!”

Not to be out done, his girlfriend Flavia also got in on the action landing another Fully Scaled cracker, this time a few ounces over 26lb.

Mark commented by saying…

“Sometime taking the girlfriend fishing has it's bonus points, and after nagging me to tackle up a single set up and purchase a rod license for her, we got out on the bank and gave it a go.

After a few practice casts Flavia soon got the hang of it and it wasn’t long before she landed her first fish and what a cracker it was!

Fishing the same reed lined margin, with a sit-up and beg rig, baited with a yellow washed out MnM pop-up, over a handful of 20mm freebies, it was away within the hour.

A 26lb 3oz Fully Scaled was the result.

I’d like to say well done to Flavia on her first ever Carp.”

I’d just like to say a massive thanks to Mark for sending the pictures and catch report in. If you have a catch report and pictures you’d like to share with us, then simply send it to contact@anglingdirect.co.uk and we’ll feature it on our blog and Facebook pages.
