Nash Tackle - Year of the Chod Rig…?
If 2013 was all about creating the ultimate Zig Rig collection for the Essex-based brand, then 2014 is clearly all about the Chod Rig – and this new range contains everything you need to tie up the finest, most perfectly curved, super sharp version of the world’s most popular rig and then fish it on a super user-friendly, fish-friendly lead arrangement.
The Components...
Nash Sliding Chod Bead Heli KitNow you can fish safe and effective sliding Chod/helicopter set-ups – whether that’s ‘Naked’ or on a leader or leadcore. This new kit from Nash features a Chod Rig Bead with an enlarged central bore to allow it to move freely up and down Naked main lines or leadcore leaders. The removable top bead is tapered to ensure it passes freely over leader knots so it’s also incredibly save and the unique Buffer Bead helps prevent hook pulls. All in all: bloody brilliant.
Nash Cling-on LeaderMore supple than leadcore; heavier than leadcore; more camouflaged than leadcore; beats fishery rules unlike leadcore. It would seem leadcore sucks when it goes head-to-head against Nash Tackle new super limp Cling-On Leader. Available in Weed, Gravel and Silt finishes and comes on 20 metre per spools.
Nash Fang Chod Twister Hooks
There must be more Chod type hooks floating around nowadays than tea in China or pictures of Kim Kardashian on the Mail Online, so what makes this new one from Nash so much better? Simple: it’s based on their legendary Twister pattern. The ‘Chod’ version features an enlarged out-turned eye, offers up to 20 per cent greater strength for the same wire gauge and, just like the original Twister, features a sticky sharp point. Available in barbed and barbless in 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Nash Chod LinkThe hardest yet most important part of a Choddie is getting it curved correctly and sitting dead straight. That’s often easier said than done, but thanks to Nash Tackle’s first foray into super stiff hooklink materials, you Chods can now look like Terry Hearn’s (ish). A very user-friendly material which features a very high memory combined with stiffness and dressed in their carp-can’t-see-it Diffusion Camo technology. Available in 20 (0.45) and 25lb (0.50mm).
Nash Cling On Tungsten Putty
Balance your pop-up to absolute perfection with the minimal amount of putty – one which isn’t just super adhesive but one which comes in three colours blends for total concealment: Weed, Gravel and Silt.
The Extra's...
Nash Chod Box
It was the world’s first dedicated box for carrying Chod Rigs. Featuring an internal foam roller it creates the perfect curved Chod Rig whilst not in use!
Nash Chod Ejector KitNash is known as a brand which likes to buck the trend, so it’s no surprise that it’s the first company to produce a proper, user-friendly lead release system for when you’re using Chods/Hinges on a rotary lead set-up. The kit contains two Ejector Beads, two 5mm Bore Beads and two Sliding Chod Rig Beads.
The History Of The Choddie
The Frank Warwick Short RigThe very first concept of the Chod Rig was actually known as the Short Rig or No Nonsense Rig and was created by high-profile angler, Frank Warwick. Frank wanted to adapt the popular Hinged Stiff Link in order to suit siltier and weedier venues where the Stiff Links had a tendency to bury themselves and sit unnaturally on the lakebed.
The MK1 Chod RigThe version that changed a generation of anglers. The ‘Short Rig’ was then taken under the wing of Terry Hearn and Lewis Read, with their version featuring the ‘D’ rig creation taken from their beloved Hinged Stiff Link and was attached to a small flexi-ring swivel via a Two-Turn Blood Knot so it wasn’t just stiff but spin incredibly quickly.
The MK2 Chod RigThe MK1 Chod Rig was regarded as the most superior version for a long period of time until forward thinking anglers, Jason Hayward and Adam Penning simultaneously devised the MK2 Chod. Because of its lack of upward movement, they added a very short and stiff boom which allowed it to rise up into the fish’s mouth and nail ‘em!
The MK3 Aggressive Chod RigThe MK3 ‘Aggressive Chod Rig’ features, as its name suggests, a really exaggerated curve. When using a Blood Knot coupled with the aggressive curve, the swivel kicks out at an awkward angle, so in order to eliminate the problem and add further movement, a small Loop Knot was used to attach the hooklink to the swivel. MK4? We wait we bated breath…
