This half term the Learn to Fish Carp Academy for 7-15 year olds launched at Tylers Common Fishery in Brentwood, Essex . An army of kids some as young as 7 years old had great fun and received expert tuition from Angling Trust qualified coaches.
With Angling Direct kindly supplying the equipment for the kids to use its wasn't long before the students were playing a fish with the superb Advanta Discovery CX lite carp rods. The cut down size, featherlike weight and great playing action meant most of the students, despite their size and stature were in control of their rods and found casting a dream.
The sessions continued throughout the half term holidays with over 100 carp making it onto the bank with students learning surface, ledgering and float tactics to great effect.
Its fair to say a fisherman is only as good as his bait so the students were given incites into the world of good quality ingredients with the T1 Boilies and Trigger pellet from Baitcraft. The proof was in the pudding with the incredible haul of fish.
The biggest focus for the academy sessions was fish care. The Advanta Discovery CX Rehab Cradle demonstrated to the students that great fish care doesn't have to break the bank and soon they were putting most adult anglers to shame with their fish handling skills and awareness of correct fish care.
I think everyone will agree it is vital for the next generation to take up our great sport and continue to ensure it thrives into the future but most importantly for the kids to get out into the great outdoors and have some good old fashioned fun!
We will be returning in the summer holidays for more fishing fun, if you live near Essex and would like your kids to learn a new hobby or improve their skills then book up now on the website www.learntofish.co.uk or by calling 07535139632.
