With over £25,000 worth of prizes on offer for anglers across the disciplines you won’t want to miss out. What’s more, it’s completely free to enter! Simply upload a photo of your best catch and get people voting – the picture with the most votes in each category wins.
This is the first year that we’ve included a junior category in our competition – thanks entirely to the huge success of Reece Gray, who won our coarse category last year. Reece loved his time carp and catfishing on the River Ebro, in Spain, and we thought it only right to offer another junior angler the chance to enjoy the same great experience. If you win this category you and your accompanying adult will be flown out to Spain to enjoy a week on the mighty Ebro, fully hosted by the incredible Sportsquest team.
This Sportsquest trip has been specifically designed for anglers who have never caught a catfish – making it perfect for our junior category winner. One out of five of the catfish the team see are over the 100lb mark, but don’t worry about hauling in one of these great beasts on your own! The team are always on hand to help out whenever needed, and you’ll be grateful of a break after a couple of aggressive takes. The Ebro starts at the Mequinenza dam – often known as the mecca of the catfish world – ensuring that the quality of catfishing on this holiday is second to none.
The Sportsquest team ensure that you have all the tackle you need to target these incredible fish – as you might expect fish over 100lb often need specialised gear! However the Ebro doesn’t just boast impressive catfishing opportunities. The carp fishing available on the Ebro is outstanding. With an average weight exceeding 22lb, most of these carp have never been hooked before – ensuring an amazing fight.
The banks of the Ebro are virginal in the truest sense, so this is a holiday for the adventurous angler who enjoys fishing on the wild side. However, when you’re not fishing you’ll be based in Caspe – a small town which looks over the dammed part of the Ebro. This area is known by several names to the locals, including ‘The Top Lake’, ‘Lake Caspe’, ‘Embalsa de Mequinenza’, and ‘Mar de Aragon’. You’ll be staying in an apartment that sits directly on top of a local bar/restaurant, meaning that food and drink is literally on your doorstep. Very accommodating, even for fussy eaters, you’ll look forward to a hearty evening meal after a day of battling with the biggest carp and catfish the Ebro has to offer.
This trip runs for eight days and seven nights, with six whole days of exciting fishing awaiting you! Our junior category is open to all anglers aged 14 and under, fishing across the disciplines, and the winning angler must be accompanied by a responsible adult on their trip. Get your picture uploaded and get people voting. You never know, with enough votes you could end up sat on our carbon throne before being flown off for the holiday of a lifetime.
What are you waiting for? Upload your photo today for the chance to be crowned King of the Catch 2016 and win the holiday to Spain!
