Introducing Our Latest AD Team Member Roy Allen...

We, here at Angling Direct, would like to extend a warm welcome to our new team AD blog writer - Roy Allen. Throughout the year we will be following his carping exploits closely in order to keep you bang up to date with how this modest big fish angler targets some of the UK’s finest carp. Watch this space…

Even though Roy is now an out and out carp angler things didn’t start out that way. He began his angling apprenticeship fishing his local lakes after school, predominately targeting roach and tench. It wasn’t until one half term, when pike fishing, he miraculously landed a 24lb leather on a float fished live bait! Seeing the fish changed his perception of angling irrevocably and his love affair with carp began. These days he is an out and out carp angler, targeting some of the biggest fish the UK has to offer.

Since that first carp, Roy has caught no fewer than twenty UK 40lb+ carp, including a 50lb+ mirror and 50lb+ common. This isn’t even to mention the newly announced UK record carp known as the Parrot, at a weight of 62lb 8oz! It’s no secret to say that everyone at Angling Direct is excited to working with such an angling talent and we’re looking forward to picking a few tips and tricks from the legend himself.
