Guru Inline Plummets
Guru are pleased to reveal the latest addition to their product range – the Guru Inline Plummets, featuring a unique design for unrivalled accuracy when feature and depth finding.
Available from March in three sizes – 10, 20 and 30g – the plummets are designed so the line goes straight through the middle of the plummet’s axis, allowing anglers to find the depth with millimetre accuracy.
Traditional plummets are designed so the line goes round the outside of the plummet, but the line isn’t straight up to the float and isn’t a true reflection of the exact depth. This new design also protects the line from contacting damaging debris on the bottom.
The three plummets feature the same hardwearing finish first seen on the Hybrid feeder range and a soft, cylindrical PTFE section to place the hook into. The absence of a cork or foam cylinder on the bottom of the plummet also gives more ‘feel’ when trying to find different bottom types; gravel, silt etc.
The three weights cover a wide variety of angling situations, from delicate far-margin plumbing on commercials with the 10g model to deeper venues and running water with the larger 20 and 30g sizes.
Guru brand manager Adam Rooney explained: “The Gurus have long thought the traditional design of plummet could be improved upon, and we’ve done just that with this design. Anglers can now plumb the depth and know that the measurement is extremely accurate with the line-through set-up and the orange PTFE section will last for a long time, unlike the cork inserts used in traditional plummets.”
“Finding the depth accurately has become more and more important for effectively targeting species such as carp, F1s and silvers when setting rigs to dead depth or just off the deck, and our Guru anglers have been raving about the design since we started testing.”
Guru Super MWG Hooks
The MWG (Match Wide Gape) hook pattern has been a massive success since its launch, and there’s now a new version joining the already extensive range of Guru hooks.
The Guru Super MWGs feature a PTFE coating, which gives it a duller finish, as well as making the surface smoother to aid penetration and the hook last longer.
It is still a bit of an all-rounder, and can be used for a variety of different styles of fishing – everything from waggler or feeder fishing with hair-rigged baits, through to pole fishing for big fish on heavy elastics.
The wide gape ensures that as many bites as possible are converted into hooked fish, as does its beaked, ultra-sharp point. It is also the perfect choice to use when hair rigging baits as the over-sized eye means that it is possible to attach it using a knotless knot, even with heavier hook link materials.
Guru product developer Pemb Wrighting revealed: “This is a premium version of the already proven MWG hook. The Super MWG pattern comes with a durable PTFE coating and this takes the hook to a whole new level of sharpness and strength.
“This is a super strong eyed hook that is designed for feeder, waggler and pole fishing, and the over-sized eye makes it easy to use with thicker lines associated with targeting bigger than average specimens. It is ideal for all baits, including maggots, pellets, boilies and sweetcorn.”
Guru Keepnets & Landing Nets
Guru are pleased to announce the launch of its new range of keepnets and landing nets, which match and pleasure anglers are going to love!
The keepnets come in a choice of 2.5m Silver Match, 3m Carp Match, or 4m International Match designs to cover a range of situations and species, and they’re all built to last for many seasons.
The rings are weighted to ensure that the net sinks properly and remains stretched out, and there is an external sleeve to protect the net from wear around the rings, one of the areas that has traditionally always been weakest and the first to wear out.
A fish-friendly super soft mesh has been used so that you can look after your catch as much as possible, and a dark finish helps to keep the fish calm whilst they are in the net.
An over-sized top ring has been used to make it as easy, and quick, as possible to put fish in it with the landing net, with a screw thread that can be adjusted to any angle for perfect positioning. When it comes to retrieving your catch at the end of the session, smaller lower rings (the bottom three) allow you to pull the rings through to help to get the fish out for weighing in or returning them.
To go with the range of keepnets, we’ve designed four different landing net heads to cover any fishing situation that you’re likely to find yourself in, either on a commercial or when fishing matches on rivers and canals.
The Speed 400, Speed 500, Competition 500 and Dual 550 models will handle everything from netting silver fish on light tackle through to bundling big carp into them, and there is an appropriate size and type of mesh for pretty much anything.
The Competition 500 has the finest mesh at 2mm and is perfect for hair-rigged baits as they can’t get caught in the mesh, often destroying your rig in the process!
The two Speed nets have a 6mm mesh to make them incredibly manoeuvrable through the water. The Dual 550 offers the best of both, with a 6mm mesh body for ease of netting, but with a 2mm mesh base for practicality and fish comfort. This is the largest model so suitable for specimen angling and larger carp.
The alloy frames are incredibly strong, with a durable moulded spreader block and good quality screw thread complete with rubber washer so there is no twist when they’re attached to a net handle.
Guru brand manager Adam Rooney explained: “Not only will these keepnets and landing net heads make it easier to fish when you’re using them, but they are also as fish-friendly as possible.
“We’ve put a lot of thought into these nets to try and solve any problems that we ourselves have experienced in the past and we’re confident match and pleasure anglers are going to love them.”
