Fishing When on Holiday - 5 Tips To Carp Fishing Success

Wanting To Fish For Carp on a Family Holiday?

After a hard period of work, it’s nice to take a break and go on a well-earned family holiday. These holidays are to relax but also a great option to do a little bit of fishing in between all other activities and relax even more.

If you find yourself on a family holiday, yearning for a chance to cast your fishing rods in the waters you pass, then this blog is for you. We will cover some fishing tips for those improvised fishing trips where you may only have a few hours in a brand new, never visited venue to try for some success.

What Fishing Venues are Best for Family Holidays?

Perfect locations to book for your holiday time and fishing time are campsites or holiday houses with a lake or near rivers. A lot of campsites and holiday parks are used to have guests who like to fish. Some of them even stock the lake because they know that many people enjoy fishing during their holiday.

Another option is to look on the websites of the specialised travel (carp) agencies. Nowadays more and more locations on fishing lakes are available to rent a house or an equipped tent that also allows you to stay with families.

How to Find a Good Fishing Spot When On a Holiday Venue?

When you are lucky enough to find a house or spot on-site, directly at the lake, it gives you the opportunity to fish whenever you want. Of course, this is not always possible if you are visiting with your family and have others plans with them.

When your fishing time is limited at a venue, try to find a spot where there are not too many people and you can do your thing in peace. When it’s hot, carp like to be in the surroundings of the venue like snags and overhanging trees.

Another great spot for fishing when on holiday can be when on the beaches. Whilst visiting the coast, you will find that sometimes a lot of fish like to go over the bottom of where people have been swimming because their actions have been ploughing the sand. Ideal moments to fish in these areas are very early in the morning and in the evening after the swimmers have been gone. Just be careful that you don’t disturb the swimmers with lines and your fishing hooks!

What are the Best Baits to Use for Fishing Holidays?

When time is limited to fish it is a good idea to bait up a swim. Often after a few hours of adding baits to a particular area, you will find there is fish in the area. Also, it is wise to bait two or three swims at the same time to switch places.

Bait wise you can choose to use your favourite boilie. Also, particles are often a very good solution as the water temperature is hot. Some anglers like to catch other fish next to carp so boilies and particles are good for more than just carp angling.

Top Tip: Remember to pack a fishing catapult and throwing stick as these are ideal for baiting quick!

What Fishing Equipment Do I Need for My Holiday?

As you are on a family holiday, it is best not to take too much fishing tackle gear. Keep your tackle selection to light equipment and travel-sized so it fits in your suitcase! Often you have enough with two rods, a bag, and an unhooking mat. You may have enough room to pack a small chair and maybe a small brolly for when it’s raining on your holiday. Keeping your fishing tackle to a minimum does make your life easier when walking to the fishing spots.

Research is the Key To Success!

Before you leave for your holiday, it is always good to find out as much as possible about your holiday venue. Often you can find experiences from other anglers on the internet. Also, sometimes local anglers at the venue and other holiday guests can give you a lot of information for quick success.
