Fishing Line Recycling Success!

We, here at Angling Direct have just sent off our latest large batch of old reel line that you great lot has popped into our red recycling line bins when visiting AD stores! We are so grateful that our customers kept it all safe and dropped it off in our stores when passing by! It has made a huge impact on the environment!

Previously, in September 2020, boxes arrived at ANLRS with an estimated count of 264,000 metres plus! and the running amount of line collected by Angling Direct was 1,274,000 metres of recycled fishing line! Although this was an amazing success for the angling community after lockdown, we have since had another count of all the line recycled!

With all the batches from stores collected and sent off to the Anglers National Line Recycling Scheme for sorting, we got a huge surprise for how much line was popped in our bins!

Through our AD stores, the Anglers National Recycling Scheme and fantastic team and customers, we have all helped to keep the old lines off the bank and out of the landfill!

Now standing at a fantastic total of...

2,778,000m of line and 54lbs of empty spools recycled!

Adding a huge 748,000 metres and 34lbs of empty spools to the last count! Whatever your universal-standard-of-measurement, times around the world, to the moon and back, football pitches or double-decker bus, that is a lot!

This is a huge achievement by all anglers that pop into our AD stores to donate used fishing lines that can be recycled and disposed of correctly. This is such an impressive milestone for us here at Angling Direct and we could not have achieved it if it wasn’t for the effort that all our amazing Angling Direct customers are putting in with this recycling scheme.
