Ever wanted your own custom made rods and reels? Well knows your chance as the UK subsidiary of global fishing giant Daiwa has launched a unique new website allowing anglers to custom build their own versions of two of the brand’s popular products.
Daiwa Sports UK has launched what it calls Daiwa Custom Revolution (DCR) after 12 months of extensive product development and will initially be allowing customers to custom build its Basia reel and Infinity Magnum Taper carp rod.
“There are thousands of configurations waiting to be created with DCR,” explained Daiwa Sports marketing manager Stephen McCaveny.
“For the Basia, you will be able to select from an array of almost 40 parts including body colour, spool, spool cap, bail, handle and more.
“The Infinity Magnum Taper, the backbone of our top carp rod range, will be based around three test curves and you can select eight guide options, four handle designs, three screen print choices, four colours of trim rings and butt caps and subtle strand of thread tipping so you can tailor your own unique look.”
All designs created on the site, www.daiwasports.co.uk/dcr, will be saved under users’ unique identities/account and can also be shared on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Once the order is placed the system will then offer the customer a list of dedicated DCR dealers where they collect there products from.
Even though DCR is still in its infancy, there’s already been a huge amount of hype and interest around this custom revolution, we’ve also received many different questions about the DCR product, so we’ve answered a few of them below.
Can I order spare parts for my DCR Reel?
Yes, but you will need the web order reference from your original DCR order, date of purchase and your postcode. Spare parts aren't available to those who haven't purchased a reel or rod via DCR
How long will it take for my order to be built?
Currently, we are expecting rods to be built within 10 weeks and reels within 6 weeks. Please check the DCR site to see if this has been updated recently.
Will there be more colours available for both rods and reels?
This is something which may be possible in the future but, for the moment, we will only be offering the colours currently available on the DCR site.
Will you be extending the DCR function to other products?
Again, this is something which may be possible in the future but we are only providing customised options for the Basia reel and Infinity rod at the moment.
Is there any difference in performance between the Basia reel and a Custom Basia?
No, appearance is the only difference between a standard Basia and a Custom Basia.
