Chinook III Charter Fishing Report – September

The last fortnight has seen settled weather and this has allowed the charter boats to get out and give their anglers some excellent sport.

The bigger Smoothounds are hanging around much longer than normal due to the warm water, the fish that spend all summer in the shallow water are now in the deeper water and are easier to target. Some cracking fish have been reported with some up to over 18 lb caught and released, these bigger fish might hang around until there is a drop in water temperature.

There are a lot more thornbacks around with increasing numbers of better fish showing, these fish will spread to all areas in and offshore over the Autumn.

There are a few good bass around with reports of fish up to 10 lb caught, these fish will be around for a few more weeks yet but will move south in October.

The Whiting are showing in all areas and will increase in numbers ahead of the Cod which will start to show when the water temperature drops, usually mid October.

Prospects are excellent, there is a real good mix of fish at the moment with a chance of anything!

About the Chinook… The place you need to come for a great day out fishing the Thames Estuary from Bradwell on Sea in Essex with one of the most experianced and friendly skippers on the East Coast. Whether you are a novice or experianced angler, they cater for both.

Due to an upturn in demand we have purchased a newer boat, she is a purpose built angling vessel, twin 330hp turbo diesels with a cruise of 20 knots, enclosed crew cab with seating for everyone, on deck toilet and a walk around island wheelhouse, she is a superb angling vessel, coded for 10 anglers.
