Chinook III Charter Fishing Report – October

This last week has seen an influx of nice cod inshore and offshore with several fish of 8lb plus reported. These cracking fish are really early this Autumn, sometimes you get an early run but it peters out until the main run of fish turn up but it looks like this year they are going to be here right through the  autumn and winter.

There are reports of good catches of cod from all along the Norfolk and Suffolk beaches so they are on their way to us all the time.

There are more thornbacks showing up all the time both inshore and offshore, most of these are smaller fish with the bigger females returning in the new year, best baits are squid and lug which keeps the option of a cod open as well.

There is still the odd bass around, some of the smaller ones will hang around right through the Autumn with the shore and pier anglers catching them on worm baits, new size limits apply to everyone at 42 cm.

The Estuaries are starting to fish well with plenty of early whiting showing up, some of these fish are quite a good size, there are a few codling and odd thornback in amongst them.

Prospects are superb with some cracking cod action in store.
