Three Cambs Carp, Puddy Cats & A Rare No 'Compo'... Michael Stewart

Our stock manager maestro Michael ‘Compo’ Stewart has been at it again! Once again on his local Cambs syndicate water, fishing his usual 48 hour session, Michael managed to land another string of nice Carp, taking fish of 18lb 10oz, 21lb 5oz and 23lb 1oz, plus a couple of smaller doubles.

Michael wrote…

" Last weeks productive area was all sown up so I opted to fish the "Trees” swim from a couple of weeks back, two hours of "gardening" with the help of my good pal Bish, I say help in the loosest possible way as he managed to smash a lead into my face when it came flying out of the weed, with only my glasses saving me from a shiner!  I swear he shouted "watch out" after the event!

Friday night only yielded a mid double "puddy cat"* and with no action and not a lot of sightings I thought I’d cocked it right up , a reel in and a wander revealed the same all over the lake , so it was a cases of staying put and back out with rods but two rigs were changed to heavily soaked balanced 15 mm crave pop ups on much more supple 12" hook links rather than the Hinge and short stiffer snowman rig,  a sprinkling of fresh bait over two rods as the other heavily the evening before , hour later and a rod was away with a blank saving 18-10 mirror that was it till 9pm when I had yet another cat around the mid 20 mark I thought I could well be in for a night of cats as they were smashing up the roach shoals out in front , but 4 takes through the nigh resulted in 2 dropped fish which I think was a cat trailing a rig as my hook and hook link came back perfect and 2 mid double commons first light produced a mirror of 21-5 and a couple of hours later a with just the rods out and everything else packed away a  23-1 mirror

A very rare, no "compo"** on the 23lber as it was already packed away on the barrow!"
