Angling Direct Makes Senior Appointment

Angling Direct plc has announced the appointment of Stewart Downing as Group Commercial Manager, in a move that is set to help ensure the continued growth of the successful retailer.

With over 8 years working for global giant Pure Fishing, initially as Brand Manager for JRC and Penn, and as UK Sales Director; Stewart’s new role will encompass key business areas such as procurement, business and product development.

Stewart commented that he is “delighted to have been given the opportunity to work within the team at Angling Direct, and is really looking forward to making a start in October. Having spent some time with Darren and the other senior members of the business, over the last few months, I am very excited about the future for Angling Direct. It is enjoying a very positive year, and we can now all work together within the team to realise more of the business objectives in the future.”

Managing Director Darren Bailey, welcomed Stewart on board, and commented that his appointment into this new role will “really help consolidate planned growth, and provide key support within the business. In addition, his broad industry experience and knowledge, will also help ensure that the company is better positioned to develop other planned opportunities going forwards.”
