Advanta Saturday- Advanta X5 River Floats

For those anglers that are either just starting out with float fishing or cannot help but add to their float collection, the X5 series of river floats present more than just a new piece of eye candy in the river.

Advanta’s commitment to modification and regeneration has paved the way for a whole range of tackle in the modern angler’s repertoire by expanding from carp tackle to meet the needs of match, coarse and predator fishing.

The new X5 series from Advanta is a dynamic range that revels in its ability to provide match and coarse anglers with next level of float fishing technology. We, here at Angling Direct, are simply infatuated with the range that is guaranteed to deliver success.

Starting with the Advanta X5 All Balsa, this river float provides the traditional all-balsa shape but with a twist. With the hollow, translucent plastic tip that also has super high visibility, you can sit back and wait for that weighty barbel or bream to hook. The buoyant, translucent tips will not drag under easily and show up exceptionally well, even when trotting extreme distances, showing you the slightest indication, even in a tricky light situation that the cloudy climate brings.

To prevent slippage on the main line, the float is finished with a low friction paint and we suggest you position the float rubbers just below the sight tip, halfway down the body and over the plastic base eye for a successful session. The balsa comes in a range of weight capacities ranging from 2.5AAA (2g) to 5.5AAA (4.4g) which you can select depending on what size fish you are hoping to connect with.

The range also brings you a cutting-edge Dumpy Pellet Waggler, which as its name suggests, a short pellet waggler float with a bulbous body, which helps to pop it back up to the surface quickly after landing. This helps you to spot instant takes and doesn’t disturb fish by diving too deeply and making that dreaded plop noise as some floats do when splashing against the water.

The dumpy pellet floats are fully loaded too but have a thin extra disc weight that can be removed in choppy conditions, to raise the sight tip up higher. The self-cocking and adjustable weight is a lovely bonus! This float has been designed primarily for those shallow commercial fisheries and for use with hair-rigged, banded or directly hooked pellets. Nonetheless, if the top and bottom attached floats are struggling in the shallow river runs the dumpy can come to the rescue.

The float comes in the options of 5g, 6g, 7g or 8g in weight capacity. It is advised that the best method of attaching the float to your line is to use a locking float adaptor or elongated line stops on either side of the float. The buoyant balsa body is loaded with up to 30g of lead and built to cast up to 70 yards, perfect for the longer-range casts.

Next in the amazing line up is the Advanta X5 Cane Avon. The traditional cane Avon float design has been enhanced with a highly visible, hollow plastic sight tip, which stands out very brightly as the float travels downstream, glowing like an orange beacon! The stable can stem with the bulbous body increases the shotting capacity whilst keeping them stable in fast, shallow waters. Keeping you in control. They fish best with large bulks, either formed with a sizeable shot or an olivette, suiting baits like maggots, sweetcorn, worms, as well as bigger offerings like pellets, luncheon meat and paste.

The X5 Cane Avons can be used with long rods that help to counter deep water and for trotting greater distances. A float that can aid in catching river barbel and chub, as well as being sensitive enough for targeting roach and bream. Again, the float is available in weights ranging from 4g to 6.4g.

Lastly but certainly not least, the Advanta X5 Silver All-Round float. This is a perfect choice for fishing open water with small to medium size baits. The all-round works well on a short line when trying to hit fast bites from silverfish but just as the name suggests, the float is versatile to also work on longer lines for river trotting and whip rigs, thanks to its extra stable nature. The down shape body of the float means that the line does not ride up when fished on a tight line. You will have excellent rig control with this float and the translucent fibreglass tips show up the slightest of indications and always dot down perfectly, in combination with their low friction body finish and balanced carbon stems.

Tackling up with the right floats is key to a smooth, successful session, so, before hitting the river, get that Advanta advantage, with the X5 range of river floats.
